چکیده
From 1930 to 1960, surgery was the dominant modality used to palliate the disease of patients with advanced breast cancer. It was during this period that ovariectomy, adrenalectomy, and hypophysectomy came to be widely used. Patients were not cured of their disease, but certainly objective re sponses and symptomatic relief were obtained. The next period in the treatment of breast cancer was the development of the concept of combination chemotherapy in the early 1960's. Marked improvement in response rates was

The comparison of the effect of different inhibitors on aromatase enzyme effective in the breast cancer by molecular docking method
Background: Aromatase is an enzyme that plays an important role in the development of estrogen-positive breast cancer. Estrogens are essential in human and mainly in women because of their role in sexual development and reproduction. Adverse effects of some aromatase inhibitors increase the need to discover new inhibitors with higher selectivity, lower toxicity and improved potency. In this stu...
متن کاملIntroduction to the conference, Aromatase: New Perspectives for Breast Cancer.
Basic and clinical data suggest that human breast cancers can be divided into hormone-dependent and hormone-inde pendent subtypes. The biological behavior and responsiveness to treatment of these two subgroups are different. Measure ment of estrogen and progesterone receptors serves to char acterize mammary tumors as hormone dependent or hormone independent with an overall accuracy of approxima...
متن کاملDesign, Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of4-(Imidazolylmethyl)-2-(4-methylsulfonyl phenyl)-Quinoline Derivatives as Selective COX-2 Inhibitors and In-vitro Anti-breast Cancer Agents
A new group of 4-(Imidazolylmethyl) quinoline derivatives possessing a methylsulfonyl COX-2 pharmacophore at the para position of the C-2 phenyl ring were designed and synthesized as selective COX-2 inhibitors and in-vitro anti breast cancer agents. In-vitro COX-1 and COX-2 inhibition studies showed that all the compounds were potent and selective inhibitors of the COX-2 isozyme with IC50 value...

متن کاملControversies of adjuvant endocrine treatment for breast cancer and recommendations of the 2007 St Gallen conference.
Endocrine treatment for breast cancer was introduced more than a century ago. The discovery of hormone receptors has allowed targeting of endocrine treatment to patients whose primary tumours express these receptors. In the adjuvant setting, different approaches are used in premenopausal or postmenopausal women. In premenopausal patients, suppression of ovarian function and the use of tamoxifen...
